How does one create a 3D Path for a sweep?

Postby johnofarch » Wed Jul 10, 2013 1:44 am

How does one draw a complex curved line to act as the path for a sweep in REVIT 14?
I need to create an arch in elevation, that follows a curved path in plan.
Thanks a million - John

After some trial and error, and a lot of help, it worked!
As a reference, here are my step by step instructions in REVIT 2014:
1.In elevation, make an extrude volume of an arch. (Vertical Work Plane)
Create Tab > Forms Panel > Extrusion.
2.In plan, make an Void Form using the plan curve as an edge. (Horizontal Work Plane)
Create Tab > Forms Panel > Void Forms drop-down > Void Extrusion.
The resultant volume is a “boolean subtraction” of the two volumes and the itersection line will be the sweep path for the desired arch form.
3.In 3D View, create the final sweep.
Create Tab> Forms Panel > Sweep > Pick Path …
