Topo Surface creation

Postby PaulSimms » Wed Aug 21, 2013 3:03 pm

Hi, I've been trying to generate a bund wall to a topo surface which I thought was a very easy task, but it's driving me crazy  ! it should be simple, a 1500mm high earth wall which is a hump around an area which is lower than the surrounding ground - placing points in the Topo manager at the correct heights results in teh triangles formed doing some very randan things. Does anyone have any hints please. cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Do you have any screen shots you could post to show us the results you are getting so far?

Cheers,
Ian

hi here are a couple of typical screenshots. I'm trying to get a smooth curved bund around an area.

This one is the lines I created in Autocad 3d thinking it might help.

thanks,

so I had a go at inserting a building pad to my imported contours & got this result, and this is without adding points - it seems very random - Revit 2014 BTW.
I look forward to your comments
thanks,
Paul

This one has more DWG contours and resulted in a bizzare shape.

I've been working on a project for 2 huge slurry tanks (40m diameter by 7m high) each! And I had to create a similar type of bund. Like you, it drove me absolutely potty. In the end, I just created an in-place sweep and it works perfectly fine. I know it's not "smart" use of Revit, but it got the job done a lot easier, and it looks a million times better then manipulating the toposurface continuously and getting nowhere.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Any chance of a screen shot of the final result :)

theis is a sweep of the section I sketched. I created it as a standalone mass as it was impossible to snap on the right plane using mass in place - any hints oin that appreciated :)

next the finished mass which looks a bit sterile, I had to ensure I turned on "mass" in VG for all views as it's turned off it seems.

and finally getting the ramp down to that level in, looks like a bit of work on building needs to be looked at.
